| Team Budget Forklifts | 1 | Team Budget Forklifts set the 8km course a light to win Stage 1 (Teams Time Trial). |
| Jack Anderson | 1 | Stage 1 - U23 Classification |
| Jack Anderson | 1 | Stage 1 - Yellow Jersey |
| Cody Stevenson | 1 | Stage 2 - Sprint Jersey |
| Cody Stevenson | 2 | Stage 5 - Masterton Criterium 45km |
| Cody Stevenson | 3 | Stage 4 - Gladstone Circuit 128km |
| Cameron Jennnings | 9 | Stage 3 - Masterton Circuit 125km Well after a bit of a mixed bag in results over the previous 2 days with a strong win Lower Hutt Team Time Trial and then a dissapointing day to Masterton it was time to put things straight. We had a good clear team plan set out by Jeremy and we awoke on the 3rd day to another sunny, warm day ready to race the 125km stage from Masterton to the top of Admiral Hill.
Just like the day before the pace was pretty quick from the start with everyone trying to get a head start before the hill. After about 30km a group started to form off the front and Mick quickly jumped across to the break, representing Budget Forklifts in the break. With Mick up the road, it enabled us to sit in and rest up for the tough end to the stage. Craig and Cody were doing a great job keeping Jack and myself out of the wind and going back to the car for bottles when they were needed.
Some 30km from the start of the "Wall", the New Zealand teams that weren't represented in the break started to pile on the pressure and rapidly brought the break back from 3min to a handful of seconds at the foot of the climb. Craig lead into the climb with Jack and myself on the wheel and pulled for the first 500m on the climb and swung over. His effort dragged a good size group celar and started to catch the breakaway group up the climb. Up front Jai Crawford attacekd to take the KOM points and continued on to build a lead. I crested the climb in 5th with Mick and Jack close behind.
The group descended quickly in pursuit of Crawford and turned left at the bottom of the descent to shortly turn left again to begin the 10km climb to the top of Admiral Hill and the finish. There were a couple fo early attacks before Gene Bates from DRAPAC started to set a quick tempo on the first 3rd of the climb. In turn, my old team mate Jeremy Vennell then took up the pace setting to try and real Jai Crawford and to possibly shake Peter McDonald loose. He was sitting in 2nd place on the overall GC and was trying his best to move up.
The front group was down to 12 or so riders with Jai Crawford stil out front and approaching the final 3km. Gene Bates had regained the front and went straight to the front to set the pace for his team leader. With 1km to go Peter McDonald took off but still missed out on picking up Jai Crawford who took the win ahead of McDonald and Jeremy Yates in 3rd. Jeremy Vennel rounded out the top 4 and I crossed the line in 9th place a handful of seconds down. Was a good way for me to put the disappoinment of yesterday out of my mind and to move up in the classification. Jack and Mick crossed the line in the top 20 riders which subsequently helped Budget Forklifts move into 3rd in the teams classification behind Savings and Loan and DRAPAC.
Hopefully the remaining 4 stages end up with some more strong results for Team Budget Forklifts.
Til next time we meet

| Michael England | 1 | Sprint Jersey Winner!! A year has gone all ready and the season starts again. The National Titles are a wake up call for riders with little training. The unforgiving Buningyong coarse is well known for high DNF results and this year was no exception. The Budget Forklifts Team had Cody Stevenson, Craig Mccartney, Peter Ladd, Cameron Jennings and myself in the Open Mens Road Race. The first lap was for removing the nerves, with Peter, Craig and myself going with any early moves. At around the 15km mark a group of 6 riders including myself formed a breakaway and managed to stay clear for 110km. By this time I had collected enough sprint points to secure the Sprinters Green Jersey. Once the peloton had reeled us in, the business side of the race began. Almost immediately, the attacks started and I ended up in a group of 8 behind the new lead riders which included Cameron Jennings. Cameron finished a solid 19th place and myself 31st. Mick England |
| Malcolm Rudolph | 1 | Sprint Jersey Winner!! |
| Jack Anderson | 7 | U23 Individual Time Trial - 28km |
| Jack Anderson | 8 | U23 Road Race Three Budget Forklift riders lined up for the start of the Mars National Championships at 9.30am on a beautiful morning in Buninyong. It was a quality field taking to the start, with world champions and olympians among some of the riders. The race started agressively with no team stronger than the other and all teams eager to have somebody in the early move. Fortunately for us we had 3 of the best and soon after the start Malcolm Rudolph was in the early breakaway. Malcolm used his head and his legs and in doing so collected most of the intermediate sprints on offer by the time the bunch reeled him in with just 30km to go. Jack Anderson |
