Tim Takes 1st!

Tim Roe of Team Budget Forklifts took the second stage of the Woodside Tour de Perth in commanding fashion.

Racing ahead of the pack, Tim powered to a solo finish 22 seconds ahead of the pack.

“I knew I had made some big progress in terms of getting over my injury from Europe and I wanted to show that in the racing today,” said Roe. “I’m really happy to get a good result.”

“Now (I just want to) extend my lead and keep the jersey,” said Roe. “We’ve got a really strong team here, and I’m confident in them.”

The Budget Forklifts team proved Tim right by coming second overall for the Tour with three riders finishing in the top 10.

The victory was a hard fought one with runner up Meyer, a hometown favourite, looking to get a win in front of his friends and family. “There was nothing we could do against Tim (Roe) today,” said Meyer. “I was in perfect position and the guys rode really well for me and I got to save my legs but Tim was just way too strong on the last climb."
