Doug and Cam perform well at Nationals

Doug and Blair showing off their Hogs Breath Cafe coolers

Competing in his first U23 National Road Race, Doug finished a very credible 22nd even after driving the break in support of his team mate Blair Windsor. In the Open National Road Race Cam Jennings again performed very well finishing 19th in the very select group of Australia's best pro's.

Competing against the large teams of Jayco Skins and Drapac Porsche, the U23 Team Budget Forklifts riders' Blair Windsor, Doug Repacholi and Scott Law went into the race with the plan to be patient early and then go with any dangerous moves mid race. The race went to plan for the boys with Blair and Doug making the main break of the race with 6 or 7 laps remaining. Doug was riding in support of Blair pulling some big turns to keep the break rolling, unfortunately Blair didn't have the legs when they reached 3 laps to go and had to withdraw. Even after the great work Doug had done selflessly for Blair he still pushed through cramps and finished in 22nd place. This was an awesome result for Doug considering it was his first Nationals road race and he is more acustomed to track racing and criteriums. On another note ex-Team Budget Forklifts rider Malcolm Rudolph stepped up to finish 2nd behind his new team mate Michael Hepburn.

In the Open National Road Race Team Budget Forklifts riders' Cam Jennings and Pete Herzig went into the race with the same race plan as the U23 boys. An early break went on the first lap and is normally regarded as the suicide break, however the pro's and the main bunch gave the break too much lead and they held on to take out the race. Travis Meyer took the win from David Kemp and in 3rd was Damien Turner. Pete succumb to the very hot conditions and had to pull out with a few laps remaining while Cam once again rode a great race and finished 19th in a very select group of the best Aussie pro's.

During our stay in Ballarat we were treated to some awesome food and service by Al & Jen at the Ballarat Hogs Breath Cafe! Thanks again!
